During High Season our slipway is CLOSED to the general public or fisherman wanting to overnight on the river. It is reserved for the exclusive use of our camping guests. Use of the slipway and the associated amenities and facilities are strictly at own risk and is unsupervised. We expect all river boat users, launching from our slipway to adhere to the set-out rules as expected by our local authorities and SAMSA in terms of river usage and licensing.
Kindly ensure you completed/selected the "boat launching option" on your booking and provided all the requested information online. Failure to do so may result in our refusal for you to utilize our slipway until all the required information and licenses are provided. Main principles which must be adhered to by Small Vessel Launch Sites like us:
- All boats must be licensed and registered for usage on the Gamtoos River. (We will need to verify your documents before your launch. Kindly keep it handy.)
- Skippers launching LOG must be completed. The logbook entry will be used as a check and balance for compliance purposes. Any boat or crew found to launch without completing this form before launching or signing out on the logbook will immediately be suspended and launching rights revoked.
- ONLY ONE BOAT in the launching bay AT A TIME. Immediately remove your trailer after launching your boat from the slipway.
- Every person in control of a vessel above 15hp must be in possession of a valid SAMSA approved Skippers License.
- Do not use the slipway when under the influence of drink or drugs.
- Keep just to the right of the center of the river at all times.
- Always turn anti-clockwise when making U-turns.
- Operate your boat responsibly at all times with due consideration for small craft and other users of the river.
